Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Handshake Innovation LLC (“Handshake,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with our website and the technology services we provide. We have written it to be clear and readable while accurately describing what we do.
1. Who we are and what we do
Handshake Innovation LLC is a technology company and managed service provider (MSP). We provide IT services and support, business process automation, software and web application development, and related technology consulting to our clients.
You can reach us at any time at info@handshakeinnovation.com.
2. Information we collect
The information we handle falls into two broad categories.
Website visitors
When you visit our website or get in touch through it, we may collect:
- Information you give us — when you submit our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
- Basic technical and analytics data — such as pages visited, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser and device type, and referring pages. This helps us operate, secure, and improve the site.
- Anti-spam signals — our forms use protective measures (such as Cloudflare Turnstile and hidden honeypot fields) that process limited technical signals to tell real visitors apart from automated bots.
Client and business data
When we deliver IT, automation, development, or consulting services, we may have access to information belonging to our clients and their systems. Depending on the engagement, this can include business records, account credentials, system and network data, files, and other information needed to perform the work. We handle this information on behalf of our clients and only to provide the services they have engaged us for.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to inquiries and communicate with you
- Provide, maintain, secure, and improve our services and website
- Deliver and support client projects and engagements
- Operate our own business, including bookkeeping and reporting
- Meet legal, regulatory, and accounting obligations
We do not use the information we collect for unrelated purposes, and we do not sell it.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your information. We share it only as needed to operate, specifically with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under appropriate terms — for example, our website host, email delivery provider, security and anti-spam services, database and authentication providers, and analytics tools (such as Vercel, Supabase, Resend, and Cloudflare).
- Accounting processors used to run our own books, as described in the QuickBooks Online Integration section below.
- Legal and safety recipients when required by law, regulation, or valid legal process, or to protect our rights and the rights of others.
- At your direction or with your consent.
We do not share client data with third parties for their own marketing or other independent purposes.
5. QuickBooks Online Integration
As one of our internal tools, Handshake operates a private, internal-only integration with Intuit's QuickBooks Online API to automate our own bookkeeping and reporting. This integration is used solely by Handshake for its own accounting and is not published publicly, listed in the Intuit App Store, or offered to outside customers.
- It connects only to Handshake's own QuickBooks Online company and may read and edit our own data there, including invoices, customers, vendors, items, payments, and financial reports.
- It runs locally on Handshake-controlled computers. Intuit OAuth tokens are stored locally in protected files on those machines; they are not hosted on a public server and are not shared.
- The integration is operated through Anthropic's Claude AI. To carry out our instructions, QuickBooks / Intuit data the integration reads may be transmitted to Anthropic, PBC for AI processing. Anthropic acts as a service provider (processor) for this purpose.
- We handle Intuit data in accordance with Intuit's developer requirements. Intuit is the source of this data and is not responsible for our practices.
- This data is never sold and is not shared beyond the processors needed to run the tool (Intuit and Anthropic).
6. How we store and secure information
We apply reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we handle. Access to systems and credentials is limited to authorized personnel, and sensitive credentials (such as OAuth tokens) are kept in protected storage. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information in our care.
7. Data retention
We keep information only for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, to provide our services, and to meet our legal and accounting obligations. Client data is retained in line with our agreements with each client. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
8. Your rights and choices
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or ask questions about how we handle it. For information that belongs to one of our clients, we act on that client's instructions and will direct requests accordingly. To make a request, email info@handshakeinnovation.com.
9. How to contact us
For any privacy question or request, contact us at info@handshakeinnovation.com. We will respond within a reasonable period.
10. Governing law
This policy and our handling of information are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” at the top of this page and post the updated version here at this URL. Material changes take effect when the updated policy is posted.
